For All You Aspiring Writers…

Writing screenplays is a whole other animal!  And I never thought I would be writing them again.  I wrote a few and went out to L.A. a couple of times before my daughter’s cancer diagnosis.  Then the economy collapsed and the money in Hollywood dried up–studios were only producing anything they thought would be a sure hit.  i.e. franchises, comic book heroes, A-list writers/producers…

I just didn’t think I would write another script.  The Universe had other ideas, giving me the green light!  I have a “back-list” of ideas–the final piece of one of my story ideas came together in an innocent LinkedIn post last fall.  I immediately deleted the idea I had shared and went to work writing.  Meadowlark was born, a romantic comedy.

Usually, the book comes before the screenplay, but not in this case.  Screenplay writing requires a very specific structure that follows the hero’s journey.  Writing screenplays has made me a much better book writer!  In case you are curious, it takes me about six months to write a screenplay, working in the evenings.

Mucho excited,

Christine
